Wildlife photography is rarely about the moment the photograph is taken. It is about the hours of waiting, the quiet observations, and the species that appear when nothing remarkable seems to be happening.
Here I write about the slower side of nature photography — the time spent in the field, the choices made before pressing the shutter, and practical observations gathered through experience in wildlife photography.

Longer reflections and updates from the field.
Photography, places, and work in progress, shared regularly.

Regular notes from the field. Photography, places, and ongoing work — shared consistently, with a more frequent rhythm while travelling.

Occasional videos from travels and photography locations. Slow observations rather than frequent updates.

Much of the work behind this site is closely connected to Finnature, which I co-own and run together with my husband Jari Peltomäki.
